Lost Control Panel in XP Home

A friend has lost his Control Panel in XP Home. It was lost due to an infection by a virus. Anti virus moved the corupted file to the vault. The wife deleted the items from the vault a couple of days later. Is it possible to copy the Control Application from the System 32 file on another computer and place it in the system 32 folder of the problem computer?

    Hi Eddie welcome to D-A-L

If you have XP installation Disc you could run System File Checker(SFC)
A good how to on SFC can be found here: scannow sfc - LEARN how to use SFC.EXE (system file checker)
Follow the instruction there. This will ensure any corrupted system file the antivirus moved to the vault.
Then was subsequently remove. Will be resorted.

Yes. Perform a search (on a good XP installation) for *.cpl. Then copy the found files (from C:\WINDOWS\system32) to the problem machine. (C:\WINDOWS\system32)
