    Hi Arknight Welcome to D-A-L

In order to repair this you will need an XP installation disc.

Start the PC using the XP installation disc and enter the Recovery Console
How on this here: Recovery Console - How to Enter Windows XP Recovery Console
Once the recovery console is loaded with the
    cursor blinking at the prompt,
type the following command chkdsk /r note the space between k and /

This will check and repair any errors found on your C drive.

If you get any errors logging on the Recovery Console see this article

Error message when you log on to Recovery Console in Windows XP: "The password is not valid"

    hope that helps

I got into the recovery console but couldn't get to the prompt. the blue screen stopped at:
' Examining 76348 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 an atapi... '
I waited for 2 hours but the screen froze displaying the above message.
Should I wait longer or is there a hardware problem?
    Please help !

    Hi,
The best thing you can do is to install a fresh new OS in different drive and then get some data recovery software to recover your data. I think this is the best option.

    Thanks and regards

If you are using XP check the Event Viewer in Administrative Tools in Control Panel, was there any STOP error? It can be faulty hardware or heat related. Make sure all the fans are running. Leave the side of the case off and see if it still reboots.

Download and run the Samsung drive utility from here: SAMSUNG Hard Disk Drive - support - utilities. Get either the diskette version if your computr has a floppy drive or the .iso version to create a bootable CD from.

Your drive is not mentioned but it should work anyway.
