    Viewing a DVD with Windows Media Player

    I have a DVD drive and I have Windows Media Player. No matter which drive I use to watch a DVD, I get an error message that there is no DVD in drive. What can I do to be able to watch DVD's on my PC?

    Dump WMP and install this package;

    Free-Codecs.com : Download K-Lite Codec Pack 5.9.0 FULL, K-Lite Codec Pack 5.9.0 STANDARD, K-Lite Codec Pack 5.9.0 BASIC : K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools
    (I use the FULL package, but the SMALL works as well)

    Tick off all selections in the configuration setups.

    Never worry about it again. ;>)

    I'm old and need things that are easy to use. Is this somethat that is (I hope!)

    Once you download, install, and "tell" it to handle everything in the configuration settings (easy to do), you're done. Sit back and enjoy your movies. (F11 puts you in Full Screen mode, and takes you back to a smaller window (original size) when done viewing.)

    I must be totally stupid because nothing is working for me. I installed the codecs and the Media Player Classic and I still cannot view a DVD. I GIVE UP!!! Thanks, anyway.

    The "Sound" in your machines bios is turned on, right?

    Once you get the sound issue cleared up (K-Lite loaded), the DVD drive can be "deleted" from Windows Device Manager then the machine restarted.
