My Google search results are being redirected to all sorts of places. (Also, the Google search results do not display the usual 'Cached' links.)
I have scanned my Windows XP computer with SpyBot and SuperAntiSpyware, and despite removing some 'trojans' this problem persists.
I have now installed ESET Smart Security, but ESET failed to find any faults after doing a full scan.
I have HiJackThis installed and can provide output from that program, if anyone thinks they can help me.
Re-imaging my XP is too painful to contemplate. I shall be very grateful if anyone can help me solve this problem.
TIA

Maybe you have tried this already, but have you checked your network connections, and then properties, IP protocol, and look to see if you just automatically obtain a DNS or if your ISP can provide you with the IP address they use for their DNS server.
I think, if I remember correctly that you said you had removed some trojans from your computer? If that's the case then some times they can re-route your browsing direction based on what the bot was designed to do.
Even though the malware has been removed, sometimes it's just a matter or correcting settings that have been altered.
(just a reminder of how to access the DNS IP)
Start > my Computer > my Network Places > view network connections > right cliick on the LAN or Wireless connetion > select Properties > click once on Internet Protocol IP/TCP > select propertied button > this is where you have the option to type in a specific DNS...
Best of luck.
Moxie - you hit the nail on head (!)
My TCP/IPv4 properties were set with 'foreign' DNS server addresses, so even though the malware has (probably) been removed, I was still being redirected.
Thanks so much. Phew!

Hello Dimitri
That problem may look like its solved for now but after sometimi it will appear again. The best you can do is that you back up all your data with external data storage then using the CDs that came with your computer format everything and restore your backed up data. Am saying this because thats not the only problem you are experiencing now. I can recieve your emails but you cant get mine. My friend had the same problem the solution is the one above the only problem with that you need alot of time to do all that. I hope you know me I might be writing to someone I dont know but the solution is good.
Thanks
Isaac.
