How do I fix my laptop?
I have several problems -
the mouse doesn't seem to work, I have tried using a usb mouse as well as the touchpad.
Left clicking doesn't often work and right clicking displays the menu for a split second before it disappears. Also programmes like taskmanager and properties menus simply disappear.
Internet pages also fail to load (sometimes opening links in a new tab works). When i try to write in the search bar the letters disappear almost as soon as they are typed.

I tried system restore. A Usb mouse, updating drivers.
But it feels like the internet and mouse problem is combined, and that it's something stopping the actions of the mouse and not the mouse itself?

I downloaded avast and had 1 infected music file which i hadn't played in over a year, sent to chest and deleted that.
I have Hijackthis logs - but i got the impression I wasn't supposed to post them anywhere other than the hijackthis forum. Is this correct?

Also, clicking to refresh an internet page simply makes it load blank, if I hold down the function key whilst clicking - it loads.
To get anything done at the moment, and to prevent open applications closing I have to keep the function or control buton held down.

You are correct, post it in the malware forum, then wait for someone to pick it up and start working with you. May take a day or two, depending on how busy they are.

Post back here once you get a clean bill of health if you still have problems. Also, if you would, please post a link here to your malware thread once it's started.

It looks like Broni has already looked at it and there are no malware problems so we'll work on it here.

neplusultra, does the problem also occur if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking (press F8 at boot when you see the manufacturers logo and continue to press it every second or so until you get the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

If it still fails the same way, would you please try creating a new XP login account. Don't make any changes to it. Just create it, then login as the new account and let me know if the problems are gone or not.
