Hi,
I am having a problem trying to uninstall AVG9.0. It keeps telling me:

Local machine: installation failed
Initialization:
Error: Connecting to item file avgwdsvc.exe failed.
Access is denied.

I assumed this might be because the watchdog service executable was running so I tried to uninstall in safe mode and still the same error message. I even tried disabling the WD service in the User Interface and again tried in both normal and safe modes to no avail. Also tried to 'kill' the process in Process Explorer. Any idea how I can remove this program.

This thread can be closed as I have solved the issue. I had to download AVGRemover to rid myself of this program.

ps It wasn't that you couldn't help. I did some 'digging' around on the web and found alot of other people had, had the same issue with AVG.

As did I - so I abandoned it for Microsoft Security Essentials - and have no regrets.

I origianally tried MS SE but found that it used nearly all of my cpu. And thanks to another thread i have open (the reason i wanted to uninstall AVG) I have learnt that AVAST might be my best option. So am going to give that a try.
