Mike, go here: Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs - D-A-L Computer Help, read the first sticky post and follow the instructions. One of the malware gurus will help you clean this up.

The help I was offered won't help because the malware or addware or what ever it's called will not let me do anything but go to that website. I need to know how to get in to the regestry to delet it.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode ONLY (no internet etc) and trying to delete the offending "link"? (Check IE settings (or whatever browser you use).)

Hi. I am colin johnson. I am having terrible difficulties tryin to 'remove' Avast Antivirus from my Add & Remove program. I can remove anything else, but when I try to remove avast, the pc just makes a 'plunk' sound. I even tried going into 'safe mode' recommended by avast, but that didn't even work,
I must get rid of it, because it won't let me install a different program. I'm 75 yrs old, and not very clever with pc's. Could somebody Please help me, I would be so grateful. thank you.
    Colin.

    colon88,

You are supposed to start your own topic/thread. What you have done is HiJack Mikes thread, and then clog it up with different facts etc.

    Mike,

Did Safe Mode (w/ no internet connection) allow you to get anywhere?

Mike, what is your problem! I'm trying to help you and get a crap response like that.

Stop ranting for a minute and look at what i said. Use the 2nd computer (the one you are posting here with) to post in the malware area of this web site. The experts there will help you fix the one that you are having problems with, probably by downloading what ever needs to be downloaded on this one then moving it to the other one with a flash drive or CD.
