BSoD IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

    Hi,
I am having a problem with BSoD - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL when downloading files using Bittorrent. It only happens with this program and not on every download I do. I have been told that this is due to other programs 'clashing' on the same 'channel'. How do i go about checking this and/or repairing the issue?

    Thank you.

    Hi

The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high.
The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be
caused by caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.
    Troubleshooting Windows STOP Messages
You can use Memtest86+ to test your ram. Download ISO zip file from here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
and burn it to dvd/cd. Instructions on how to use Memtest86+ here
How to Use Memtest86 ? Memtest 86 Tutorial & Guide - Custom PC Blog
Note: were it says Download - Memtest86 v3.2 ISO image (zip) yours will be the latest v4
Alternatively you can remove individual stick of ram (one at a time) from your PC to test for faulty ram.
Then try your pc to see if the error persists. If it does replace the stick of ram. If not then that ram module is faulty.
Now replace that stick and remove the second stick of ram then try your pc.
PC's can have up to 4 (but usually 2) stick of ram.
So you would need to repeat the step four times (if that is the case) to check all your ram
If you have access to another PC with the same type of ram you could remove
the ram from the working PC to test your PC.
But make sure the ram modules are the same as yours. Otherwise you you will damage the ram from the working PC.
If you have problems with the above instructions please post back.
If after checking all of the individual ram modules the problem still occurs go to here : -
Error Message with RAM Problems or Damaged Virtual Memory Manager
and follow the instructions from step 2

    Hi,
I tested my RAM sticks and neither were faulty. So i followed the steps in the link you gave me and noticed an interesting thing: the Paging File option was set to custom setting and set to the maximum allowed. So i turned off the paging and restarted my system then set it to system managed setting and restarted. Problem seems to have been solved as I downloaded 2 films simulaniously at 1.1mb/s and had no issue. Something that I have not been able to do previously. My laptop is one that i inherited off a friend and am in the process of fixing several problem which he has caused by altering things which go beyond his knowledge base (lol). Thank you for the advice. It helped me alot.

ndis.sys = network card/device, so if you do get another bsod, see if there is a newer driver for your NIC.

Hi Glad to see you got sorted

Its OK to modify a PC to a persons personnel needs. But not to mess
with (as your friend as done) things your unsure about. My maxim being.
If your unsure what your about to do Don't Do It.Get advice.
