Hello csc1 & welcome to the D-A-L forums, try installing the audio drivers from Dell Support. Please let us know if this resolves your problem.

    JUST FIXED THIS
i had to go to my bios settings and when i looked on audio it was turned off, i then turned it on and then installed my audio drivers. easy lol .

In reply to you, check and do the same. To do this if u dont know, u must start your pc and when it shows the manufacturer logo of your pc , u then must press f12 (different key strokes for different pc's I.e Dell f12) after this u will be in your bios settings then just check your audio settings and turn it on if it aint already. After this install your drivers if u got them on a cd, or download it from your manufacturer of your sound card. EASY AS PIE

    IM OUT

I tried looking in the bios a while ago but I don't think I found it. The only audio thing I found was under peripheral configuration and it was enabled already.

Im having the same issue as you, reinstalled my windows xp and now I have no sound. Before i reinstalled xp i accidentally deleted soundmax, but that was fixed by downloading it again and installing it. After the reinstallation of xp i tried this again and got the message driver not found. So ive practically downloaded every audio device program with no positive outcome. I followed the steps given to me by my computer and even tried looking for the BIOS at the begining of start up, but that setting was unable to be changed. I even tried going into device manager and troubleshooting and stuff, still no outcome. I still have no sound. This is a huge issue because I live off of my laptop, so this is a huge inconvenience. Please help me and this other poor person in the same situation!

    Audio drivers
    --------------------------------------------------
The best source for audio drivers is the computer manufacturers web site.

If the computer was custom built then go to the motherboard manufacturers web site.

Go to the driver download section and insert your model number. The drivers will be there.

If you are one of the very few people that actually installed a PCI "Sound Card" then you should have the drivers CD for that card or again go to that manufacturers web site.
