For the past few days now my computer has stopped working. I can still start it up, but everytime I try to access a program it asks me what program I would like to use to open it. I think it might be my rundl.exe, but I'm not sure. Can you help me?

It won't even allow me access to the control panel to do a system restore.

Have you tried running the applications directly (as in from the folder that they are in) or by way of a link from your desktop or start menu? I found this: Broken EXE Association I don't know if it will work so try this at your own risk. Other than that I would say to first try running the command line (windows key + R and then cmd from the run box) and then type in sfc /scannow. Have your XP disk ready. If cmd gives you the same problem then the only other thing I can think of would be to do a repair.

I'm pretty sure, the computer is infected.
