    My problem is my sound,
Ive installed the drivers correctly, checked the hardware panel for any X's or ?'s
    everything seems fine
    HOWEVER.
when i try to play a music file
the file plays, there are no errors stated, i just can't hear anything.
    My Sound card is onboard.
I've checked my speakers, by using them on a different audio device, they work fine
I've also tried headphones,(also tested on a different audio device) they also work fine.
I've checked my mixer(sndvol32)everything's as expected.

    Any ideas?

Is the device enabled in the BIOS Setup Menu?

That would be odd. Has it ever worked? If so, when did it stop working? Any errors in Device Manager?

it did work at one point.
i went out to purchase some different speakers, before i left it was working fine,
I then got home, plugged in the new ones,_no sound_, so i tested them on a different device, worked fine.
I then swapped back to the old ones, _nothing_, from there, i tried headphones.
Device managers fine, no red X's or Yellow ?'s.
Ive tried everything i can think of, its just confused me so much :S.

Well, I don't know. I would probably try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. If still no go, then you may have a fried sound device and may just have to go with an add-in card.

Well, the only other thing I can think of is the device getting confused and reconfiguring itself. This can happen for those devices that auto-configure their jacks, depending on what is plugged into it - microphone or rear speakers, for example. These would be checked in Control Panel, or the applet for the sound card (check motherboard maker's site, or the utility disk that came with the board).

Sorry I could not be of more help.
