i have a problem with my kids comp , it is an older one,i upgraded the mem. also up from 98 to xp.it did not have a ethernet card only phone line,bought a new card w driver.installed it,comp keeps saying cant find modem,high speed is working fine.but i cant connect .comp works fine other than that.any suggest? my own comp does connect so i know high speed is working ,ty

Since you now have High speed Internet, you need to tell the modem to never dial a connection. Doing this will still allow the modem to be used if it's ever needd but it won't attempt to dial out all the time.

Control Panel
Internet Options
Connections tab
Select "Never dial a connection"

You also say high speed is working fine.but i cant connect, what exactly does that mean? If high speed is working fine then you are able to connect to the Internet, right or wrong?

Need you to be more specific. When you plug the network cable in to where? The red light come on where? I'm guessing you mean a router but I'm not sure.
