So I have a triple boot machine I have Ubuntu and XP and 7 I rarely use 7 but XP is my default and Ubuntu is my safety net I guess you could say.
I can not get online from the main computer it says limited or no connection. I've tried restarting the router and restarting the modem and restarting the computer.
I can not even log in to the router. (in XP)
Now I go to Ubuntu and everything works like it should.
Windows 7 is a new installation and I don't have a firewall or AV scanner as of yet and I can get online with it (on it right now)
I've tried uninstalling my AV scanner on XP and tried unistaling any program that uses the internet that may block it like a firewall and I can not get online from the main pc.
Any ideas.
Hi PlatinumMoto
How is your network connected
Is it like this How to setup a simple home network | D-A-L Computer Help
How are you connecting your Main (XP) PC is via wireless or hard-wire?
Jim
I have it connected hard-wire it's the one connected to the wireless router. I've tried a system restore but it didn't work the system was never restored.
I've uninstalled Norton again and removed any trace of it thinking that was blocking it because I remember one time before I had ZA and it did something similar.
it's a belkin wireless n something and I can boot into safe mode but the internet does not work in safe mode either.
Go to Run and Type CMD
In That window at the prompt type ping 127.0.0.1
What do you get for your ping stats?
Jim
I'm doing it in safe mode so maybe that affects it but when I type ping 127.0.0.1 I get ping is not recognized as an internal or external command.
I was booting into safe mode with networking but I'm back now into the normal state not safe mode and tried the ping command and it said the same thing.
(I'm on my laptop posting this)
Can you go into CMD again and type ipconfig
and tell me what you get now
Jim
