    Laptop problems

I'm working on an eMachines e627 laptop that is running Windows 7. Windows will boot but is extremely slow and will hang after a few minutes. I tried running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but it hung after over 12 hours of running. Spybot S&D had the same issue. Running the built-in HDD diag had the same issue. Running SpinRite had the same issue. Everything hangs! SpinRite was finding bad sectors and recovering most data but would always hang eventually. I'm at my wit's end!

Sounds like you already know the answer, replace the hard drive. This has nothing to do with the operating system since you have the same problem running the HDD diag and SpinRite.

You might look at buying (if you don't already have one) a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter kit that would allow you to mount the laptop HD in a tower to see if you can back up important data or if you're lucky, make an image backup, though if the drive is as bad as it sounds, it's unlikely you will be able do image it. I got mine from goHardDrive.com.

What I like about this adapter is that is is not an external USB connection. It connects directly to your internal IDE cableing, just like a normal drive. I've tried two different external USB drive kits and neither worked well and both stopped working completely after a few uses.
