    very fuzzy type and display

    Hi,

I have a Dell inspiron 9300 with windows xp home. For some time now the type and display have gone fuzzy-not focused- so difficult to read.

I have tried changes to display settings but no luck.

Anybody got any ideas ? Thanks

what type of monitor? How old is it? Do you have speakers next to your monitor?

    Thks for your reply.

Sorry it's a laptop with lcd screen. It came from dell mid 2005 but is not used every day. However, my son has used it for gaming quite a bit...

It does seem like the problem is permanent,i.e. the screen is damaged in some way as all the display suffers.the best way to describe the fault is if you were short sighted you would not quite be able to focus to make the display sharp...

Thks for your involvement,I'm a builder so you can ask me a question if you need any advice in that area !

Does it appear fuzzy if you boot to BIOS setup? If yes then it's hardware not XP. If no then try downloading the latest video driver from the Dell website:

If you attach a secondary monitor does it work correctly?

    Thanks townsby and Ztruker.

    The problem was solved.

Whilst trying to rig up a secondry monitor,my 16 -year old son got that working and the display was still fuzzy. He then went into the display settings and changed something in the radion graphic card settings which made the type clearer. Not sure what he did and he can't remember either ! Thanks for your help.
