HELP :STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
Hi,
get this error when my screen boots to the logon screen
Can anyone help? This is a matter of urgency.
(BLUE SCREEN)
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down.
My comp was a a dell dimension E521, but was placed in a new case with a new motherboard (gigabytes). athlon processor 5000+, windows media center 2005, SP3, 3gigs of ram,
I opened up spybot search and destroy, clicked the resident shield and the tea timer thing. Next thing i got a pop-up saying that winlogon was a malicious process and it was quarantined, i got another pop-up ccmass.exe (i think), next thing my theme changed from xp to classic, i went to change it back, but it had gone. So i restarted my computer and got the error above.
I cant boot in safe mode (i can get to the options after hitting F8) but it wont go to safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, or last known good configuration dosnt work.
I have no OS disk as it was DELL. I have no way (so far) of getting into the system, the above options just take mt to the blue screen with same error.
Please help, this comp runs my TV, blu-ray, music and net!!

Ok you place the hard drive in another computer, is that correct? Because of the way that windows works you just can't move it from one computer to the other otherwise you have driver and registry conflicts. That is quite possibly be what is causing your problem. In addition a dell disk is intended to be used in a dell computer and can legally only be used in a dell computer. You will have problems running it in other computers. I suggest that you buy some version of Windows. If you want to save money you can buy an OEM version through newegg. Because it is current I recommend windows 7 but if you must you can still get xp through new egg. If you have documents to recover you should either put your hard drive in another computer or connect it to a computer using an enclosure and copy them to the other computer before reinstalling. Since you got a spy ware warning or a spy ware pop up I would scan the files with anti spyware and anti virus software before copying them to the other computer. I know this is probably what you don't want to hear.

Hi Gop
How long as your PC been running in the new case?
If this is you first start-up then Townsbg could be correct. If its been running a while then obviously its something else.
A STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
Is caused : -
This occurs when Windows switches into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsystem (CSRSS), is compromised. Security can no longer be guaranteed. Because Win XP can’t run without Winlogon or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode service can cause the system to stop responding. This Stop message also can occur as a result of malware infestation or when the computer is restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions so that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access system files and folders.
Troubleshooting Windows STOP Messages
You say The Windows Logon process system process terminated and you had a pop-up about ccmass.exe
Microsoft say : -
The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. When the Windows NT kernel detects that either of these processes has stopped, it stops the system and raises the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes.
So when Spybot said that winlogon was a malicous process and quarantined it this was the most likley cause of the problem.
The link below gives advice on how to determine the cause
See here: How to troubleshoot a "STOP 0xC000021A" error
This guide assumes you can get to Safe Mode with Command prompt.
If you cannot get to Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
Then very few options are available to you. One to consider is a repair install.

This is a lot of information to throw at you so if you need any help or advice please post back with your questions.

Even if you are able to get past your current issues you are very likely to have some kind of driver or registry conflict later on because windows isn't designed to be ported from system to system. This is especially true when you are dealing with an from a disk from a manufacturer such as dell because those installations are particular to the manufacturer's computers and in many cases for a particular model. In addition those disks come with different licensing rights than retail disks so it might very well be illegal to use in other computers. You will need to check the agreement on that. Because of this I hope you understand that it would be best for you to purchase a copy for use on your system. I don't think that you can count on your system being stable until you get a fresh installation of a retail version of windows.
@Jim that font is incredibly small.
