    Exclamation Help me! :c IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Hello! I'm new here! Hopefully with any luck this will be the last time I have to come here :q

Alright... I've been absolutely baffled by this problem. Please help me

So, I'm on the internets minding my own business, when BAM my computer goes into a blue screen of death.

It has a bit of data on it, the most prominent being "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". It also reads

    ***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000000, 0x0000001C, 0x00000001, 0x804E1BF8 )

I restart it and it goes into the BSOD again, and again, and again. Every time. Even in Safe Mode it doesn't run, until I follow the little command something like "press ESC to stop SPTD.sys"

So, I look online in "Safe Mode With Networking", I can't make heads or tails of what all these help threads say, none of them seem to match my problem exactly. I check the event viewer and I see the first error looking something like this:

    Source: PSched

    Event ID: 14103

    QoS [Adapter {ECA6D16B-AFED-413A-BDBE-3665FC8A887D}]:
The netcard driver failed the query for OID_GEN_LINK_SPEED.

I read something about faulty drivers, but I don't know what to touch or not. So I look around in System Information, and I find two suspicious-looking things, which are as follows:

    Name: isapnp
    Description: PnP ISA/EISA Bus Driver
    File: c:windowssystem32driversisapnp.sys
    Type: Kernel Driver
    Started: Yes
    Start Mode: Boot
    State: Running
    Status: OK
    Error Control: Critical
    Accept Pause: No
    Accept Stop: Yes

    Name: pci
    Description: PCI Bus Driver
    File: c:windowssystem32driverspci.sys
    Type: Kernel Driver
    Started: Yes
    Start Mode: Boot
    State: Running
    Status: OK
    Error Control: Critical
    Accept Pause: No
    Accept Stop: Yes

BTW I'm running Windows XP on an HP Pavilion zd7000...

Can anyone give me some clear information on what I should do? I can get around a computer, but I'm not exactly a whiz at this. I just want this dumb thing back to normal again...

sptd.sys is part of Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. Do/did you have either of these installed?

Read through this post to see what the poster did to resolve a problem with sptd.sys: What is sptd####.sys?

Have you tried Last known configuration that worked from the Safe Mode selection screen? If that also doesn't work then you are going to have to rename or delete sptd.sys and any other sptd* files from your hard drive. There are a couple ways to do this.

The easiest is to boot a Linux Live CD like Puppy Linux and delete (or rename) them that way.

Try booting a Linux "Live" CD like Puppy Linux or one of the other bootable CD packages like EBCD, UBCD or best of all, UBCD4WIN. See if you can access the DVD drives and USB devices that way. If yes then Windows is the culprit. If no then I'd say you have developed hardware problems.

See this post by Happyrck on GeeksToGo for Puppy Linux:
    http://www.geekstogo.com/.....=findpost&p=1197721#entry1197721
Get the latest version available as the one he recommends is no longer easy to find.
Ignore the stuff about saving data, you just need the info on downloading and creating the Puppy Linux bootable CD.

Another way is to mount the hard drive as a slave in another computer and delete/rename the files that way.

Once resolved, uninstall Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%. Reinstall if needed.

Yes, actually, I did have Daemon Tools Lite installed a long time ago, although I uninstalled it many months ago. :\

I did try "Last Known Good Configuration" before, and... no dice. However, I was able to get it running completely normally after hitting Debug Mode in the advanced startup options menu earlier.

In any case: I don't have said computer with me right now, but is it necessary to reinstall Daemon Tools to run Puppy?

    Hi LKArtillery

In addition to Ztruker's suggestions Microsoft says : -
possible causes of this error include an incompatible device driver, a general hardware problem, or incompatible software.
    So just about anything really.
There suggestion on how to resolve this are in the link below.
This usually occurs (according to Microsoft) during Windows installation.
Since that is not the case with you go to Error occurred after Windows was installed section.
You receive a "Stop 0x0000000A" error message in Windows XP
If you need any further advice or help with link please post back

No, it is not necessary to reinstall Daemon Tools to use Puppy Linux. Puppy is a stand alone bootable CD. It might be worth doing though, to install it again, then uninstall it using Revo Uninstaller rather than the normal Add/Remove Programs.

Revo runs the normal uninstaller but then searches the registry and hard drive for left over entries and files.
