Screen problems
I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop, about 4 years old. All of a sudden, my screen has developed a kind of whited out line about an inch thick running along the left hand edge from top to bottom. It almost looks as if a piece of muslin or other white fabric has been placed over it. The screen image comes through, but whited out and slightly flickery. Next to it is a bar of exactly the same width, but with comparatively minimal colour drainage and flickering.
I would like to know whether this is damage to the screen itself, or whether there is any way of resolving this without having the screen replaced. Also, if I do have to replace it, will this cost a fortune?
Thanks in advance,
James
P.S - I have taken pictures of the screen if you need to see them.

Hi James welcome to the forum
Does this appear on the boot screen and when windows as loaded
or only after windows as loaded?

Hi Jim,
Thanks for replying.
As soon as the screen turns on the white line appears. Both as it boots (when the screen is all black and then when the windows icon appears) and after windows has booted also. It doesn't go away at any point during use.
Thanks,
James

Hi James
If you have access to monitor you could connect it to your laptop and check your display.
If the white lines are still there when coupled to the monitor its most likely the video card that's faulty.
If the lines are not present when the monitor is connected then its a faulty on-board screen
or a faulty/badly connected video cable.
For a guide to a replacement screen see link below

If it is the screen and you decide to replace it use the above as a guide and shop around
as you may find it cheaper else were.
