I find the best troubleshooting for your issue is Skype options:
    • Open Skype
    • Tools
    • Options
    • General > Audio Settings > Sound > Video Settings
    • Note when you are in Audio Settings, you can do a test call at the bottom
Play around in all settings to test your webcam thoroughly...... a tip - Please write down settings changed so you can go back to the original settings at any time.

Post back how you go or if you need more assistance.

    kind regards,

    well helloooooo australia!!!

well no luck i have done that and still no sound--my initial post was a little off

    2 webcams on

theirs can see me but no sound
mine i can see and hear them

on little mic icon no sound levels going up and down

on test again no sound going up and down
only this particular webcam is doing this i have tried another and sound vision fine
i know you'll think well just use that one then--but the one i cant get working was a gift for someone and thought needed testing!!
but alas i cant get it going
i think i have been into every sound area to check tick boxes and no mute for microphone/recording
anything else off the top of your head!!!

Sure the problem is not their end?

No not at all, I don't think that as we are here to try and fix your issue.

    HOWEVER

Have you covered these links in your travels?

Final thought, take it back to the supplier and swap for another as the webcam maybe faulty. Who knows?

If it is a setting in your system, please do run SFCScannow to make sure you have not missing or corrupted .dll files.

Let me know what you decide to do and if anyone can offer a suggestion here, please feel free to drop in.

    kind regards,

Well, On my Laptops with internal webcam running skype in Linux. First I have to make sure mixer settings for audio are ok for speakers (laptop speakers and external headphone jack). Then in the settings panel for skype. Untick the box that says let skype manage audio settings. Works for me.

    If
theirs can see me but no sound
The mic on your webcam is not being detected (is there a driver cd that comes with non working webcam and if so is it XP compatible) because some logitech webcams require XP SP3 to install driver from cd.
