    CPU 100% usage

When I use Firefox or Google Chrome my CPU usage jumps to 100%.

What action can I take to resolve this issue.

    Thanks

One thing you can try is installing
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...d=2&sort=&lup=
in Firefox and see if CPU usage goes down in firefox. It is just a addon for firefox. So it is easy to uninstall if no improvement

I also use Vacuum Places also in Firefox
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...d=2&sort=&lup=

I don't use the Windows Version of Google Chrome so no help there.

The only thing that jumps out at me is that you could have spyware. I would be especially weary of this if you are having webpage/search engine redirects, excessive popups, and/or prompts to scan your computer for viruses or warnings trying to tell you that you have a virus. If you suspect this I suggest that you read this & post another thread here. Do you have other programs that max out your CPU?

In addition I would check to make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirments for each browser. It might help to know more info about your computer and the version of each browser that you are using; please answer the questions below. Do you get the same thing in IE? One thing you can try to do with Fire Fox is to run it in safe mode. From the start menu browse to where the shortcut for FF is but instead of clicking on FF click on FF (Safe Mode). Report on how it runs then. Also is this on a particular page or does this happen on all pages? You could also try a restore point. If nothing else you could uninstall and reinstall the browsers. Be sure to back up your bookmarks first. Also, how many instances of each browser where you running when you noted the CPU usage? Does this happen when you have just 1 instance of each browser running and only one running at a time?

Firefox as a known problem with high CPU usage.

Take alook at this and see if any apply to you

Firefox consumes a lot of CPU resources

Just for reference. On My wifes Acer Aspire One, Intel Atom processor, 1 gig of ram. Windows Xp, Firefox 3.5.5. Task Manager only shows processor approx. 50% while typing this out and drops to 1% when I minimize and let Firefox just idle (it is still open).

Just so you have a point of reference. I also have SpyWare Blaster (manually updated and protection enabled for IE,Firefox, and Seamonkey), Avast current Antivirus, MBAM manually updated to current versiion. Use Windows Firewall also. There is no nasties in this XP install with this setup.

This is false statement. High RAM usage, yes, but not CPU.

Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same thing?
