I have my CDROM stucked for like a week now. I tried pushing the hole and I thought that when I pressed the open button, it will open.
But after watching this video (YouTube - How to Remove a Stuck CD/DVD from a CD/DVD-ROM Drive), I realized that you need to pull the tray! Wow! I got so excited but when I am about to push the hole with my pin, there's nothing to push.. because I already pushed it a week ago.. So I tried pulling the tray out since the hole is already pushed.. HOLY CRAP IT WONT OPEN! Is it because my PC is turned on? So I tried shutting the PC down, still wont open. Maybe I need to remove the cdrom from the CPU, like in the video?
Please help!
A pin is a bit too thin, it just pushes the release lever over, and can cause damage..
The best thing is a straightened paper clip.
Give it a got with that.
I agree a straightened paper clip works well. And you have to press pretty hard and far to slide the mechanism open. It should then pop open a 1/4 inch or so, then you can grab it. This should be done with the computer powered off so it does not automatically try to close again.
If it still does not open, it may have a disk jammed inside. In that case, the drive would have to be removed so it can be wiggled about and hopefully reposition the disk.
@Fingees and Digeratii: I cannot push the lever again using a clip because as I said in my first post, the lever is already pushed (because I keep on pushing it using a pin days ago). Yeah Digirati, maybe it's jammed. =( So I need to remove the CDROM? Well I really should ask my brother to do it. I don't want to be in trouble. If I already removed the CDROM, what will I do next?
We were just making sure, because some times it seems like it has been pushed all the way, when it has not.I cannot push the lever again using a clip because as I said in my first post, the lever is already pushed
If there is no disk in drive, and it still does not open, then the drive is most likely history.
