    Hi farrah2412...Welcome to D-A-L forums!

Just to confirm...In "Network Connections" there is NO "Wireless Network Connection" listed under the "Lan or High-Speed Internet" section? If not then it sounds like the driver is not installed.

Under "Device Manager" do you have any Yellow Exclamation marks listed? If no Yellow Exclamation marks then make sure the Wireless option is enabled in the BIOS. Press "F2" on boot to get into "Setup Options". Check to make sure Wireless option is enabled.

Also check "Add or Remove Programs"...is there any Wireless software installed like "Intel PROSet"? If no drivers installed you can go to Dell's Driver & Download page and download the required drivers. All you need is the "Service Tag" which is listed on the bottom of your Laptop. It will be on a small thin white tag along with the "Express Service Code".

Dell - Drivers and Downloads - You just enter your Service Tag number and the Dell site will take you to the correct location for the drivers for your Laptop.

    Let's try this for now.

i have done all dell downloads---and i now see intel pro in add remove programmes--i have no ? signs in device manager--but down in icon tray i have what looks like a transmitter icon which is white and has a red cross through it--box pops up saying driver not installed--i have been on both dell and broadcom and still the driver is not working---i still have no wireless network icon in network connections?

When you say all drivers, does that include the Chipset driver? Which Intel driver did you install?

    Hi Farrah...

It sounds like your Laptop may not using the Intel Wireless card. The Dell Latitude D600 has many Wireless options of which the Intel Pro/Wireless is one. It just depends on what your Latitude D600 was shipped with. My Dell Latitude D620 uses the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card.

The D600 can use the following...
Wireless 1350 WLAN PC Card <= I'm thinking this is yours
    Wireless 1370 WLAN MiniPCI Card
    Wireless 1450 WLAN MiniPCI Card
Wireless 1470 Dual-Band WLAN MiniPCI Card
    Wireless (US) WLAN Card
    Pro/Wireless Network Connection
    Pro/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
    Pro/Wireless 2915BG Network Connection

Try the following Dell Web Site below...enter in your service tag and it should list out what your Laptop was shipped with...
    System Configuration

For example my results on my D620...

OK...Get into your BIOS using the F2 method I mentioned. The service tag number should be listed in the "System" section under "System Info". I know the D600 has an older BIOS version but it should be listed. That's where it is for my Dell D620 and my Dell Inspiron 6000

lol---i tried to do the let dell locate your servce tag and it would not work---
ok i installed the drivers via dell---under latitude d600---the icon in tray which looks like a fan shaped transmitter with red x through it --if double clicked does say no driver and i think it was the 1450 mini one on the list you had--when i searched for that particular one on dell it didnt seem to find it

when i was on dell by going via model --surely i downloaded the correct things---when i look in network adapters via device manager---also names broadcom?

    god i feel dumb!
