I downloaded a pdf file from my netbook (Windows XP) to my flash drive. I was able then to open the file on the flash drive with my netbook. When I plugged in my flash drive to my desktop (Windows 7) I saw the pdf file but when I tried to open it, I got the error message "there was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found".
Any ideas?
Have you installed Adobe reader on the desktop?
Does it open on the first computer? Does it open on any other computers? The other files open? How about copying the file to the computer and then opening it?
Yes, it opens on the first computer.
No, it doesn't open on my lap top.
The other files open on my lap top.
I tried putting the file on the clipboard (copy) but when I went to paste got the same error message.
I think it might be a Windows 7 vs XP isssue.
What about on other computers?
I downloaded the file to a CD and it could not be opened on my or my neighbor's computer.
I would install Foxit Software - Foxit Reader 3.0 for Windows for *.pdf files.... Does all you need for *.pdf's.
Just my opinion.
I have Foxit installed already.
I solved the problem by hooking up my printer to the netbook and printed the file. That's what I was trying to accomplish all the time.
Thanks for trying. Still can't figure out why I couldn't open the file.
Let's consider the issue closed unless you have an idea as to why I couldn't open the file.
