Just installed WinXP Home on my new, offline computer. I configured my HD into four partitions, but while installing, the setup gave letter D to the optical drive.
This was inconvenient for me, so I changed the letter D with the Disk Manager option to H, and then renamed the remaining partitions accordingly D,E,F.
But now the optical drive disappeared from the drive list. The drive is listed in BIOS and, with warning, in the Device Manager, but I cannot use it.
Please advise how to activate the CD-ROM drive.

Go to the Device Manager and Uninstall the drive.

Then reboot.

XP should reload it but the drive letters are always arbitrary.
