Hi, everyone -
This is issue is so strange, I'm not sure how to describe it. I just got a new Dell Mini laptop this week. I installed MS Office 2007 on it immediately. My problem is some of the keyboard functions don't work - but it has got to be a setting and not the buttons. Here are the issues:
1) My delete button won't work (but it will work if I press CTL/ALT/DEL
2) I can't highlight text and type over it - I have to start at the end of a line and hit the backspace until all the text is gone - SO ANNOYING.
These things happen no matter where I am working - MS Office (Word) or on the Web (IE 8) -- I have tried updating the word settings - I have selected the option to type over text, etc. but NOTHING is working. I'm getting so frustrated with this. I appreciate any help you can provide - it makes it very difficult to do anything - I will never underestimate the power of delete or replacing text by typing over it again!!![]()
I solved my own issue - after a week of searching!! YAHOO. Thought I'd pass along what I did in case anyone else has this issue. It all had to do with my Dell Touchpad (Mouse)
The "Drag Lock" selection was on (Control Panel, Mouse, Dell Touchpad, Touchpad settings, Taps, Drag Lock) Buried far enough?!?!
I'm not sure why that was causing my delete/selection problems, but the second I unchecked "Drag Lock" all problems were solved! I feel so darn smart right now!!
I can finally go to sleep. Sweet, sweet delete!![]()
Glad you got the issue corrected. If there is another time, don't forget your warranty with the new computer....
Happy Festive Season to you,
kind regards,![]()
That's the same advice I was going to post to you. Nice one
Thanks - we really appreciate that too!Thought I'd pass along what I did in case anyone else has this issue.
