When I try to boot the computer normally, after the Windows XP logo it goes to the "Blues screen of death" and lists the following techinical information:
"STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0x0F78C63D4, 0xF78C60D0, 0x08AE87805)
If I try to boot in Safe Mode, while it is listing\loading the drivers it stalls at
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\SYSTEM 32\Drivers\agp440.sys
And it says after about 30 seconds that I can press escape to abort loading SPTD.sys
If I press escape, I can boot into safe mode. If not, it goes to the windows XP logo and then to the blue screen.
I tried to do Safe Mode with Command Prompt and do a system restore, but there were no restore points on the system. This is strange, because I recently cleaned my computer, and I'm pretty sure a restore point was set.
I ran Super Anti-Spyware and it found 11 threats. I removed them, but the problem remains.
Please advise on what I can do to be able to boot my computer normally again, if possible.
Thanks.
I forgot to say that I'm running a Dell 4600 Series with Windows XP Profesional.
Here's a multitude of information on that error;
SPTD.sys - Google Search
sptd - sptd.sys - Program Information
File Information - How to remove sptd.sys error problem
Other, possibly related info/suggested fixes;

If this provides no solution(s), post back to that effect.
As I cannot access the internet in safe mode, I am unable to run these scans on my actual computer. I have located the sptd.sys file in my drivers folder. Would you advise removing this file? I am running Daemon Tools on my computer, but it is not for a vital reason. Meaning that if deleting the driver only affects Daemon Tools, that is an acceptable sacrifice. Please advise. Thanks.
I would rename the file/extension before deleting it. See if that helps.
I changed the file extension and my computer was then able to boot up normally, however, when it reached the desktop and began loading I received the message that the file "whxk2335.exe" had failed and it asked me if I would like to send an error report. I clicked "Don't Send" and it continued to load, but it wasn't doing anything. In my task manager I could see the PC running at 100% memory usage, with the task "CLI.exe" using the majority of the memory. The computer won't load anymore than this. Suggestions?
You must select safe mode with networking in order to access the internet in safe mode.
CLI.exe is a program associated with your graphics drivers & normally I would suggest that you remove and reinstall them however since you had found spyware and have a thread going in the malware section I suggest that you follow through with that until your computer has been declared clean as that is a higher priority and might clear your current ills. Note that you should watch what you do online if an infection is suspected. For example certain things that I wouldn't do would be to log into credit card accounts or back account or any other financial accounts; any accounts that are sensitive in nature I would log into from another computer. As for help over there, you are going to have to wait until one of our security experts is online.
