OVERSAVING - how do I get back to the previous version???

I have been stupid. I sent a letter on Saturday (written in Word), which I printed and saved, but did not print a second copy for me. (I thought I'd do this later). I did save it, and switched off the computer. When I got a telephone reply this morning I drafted a reply using my previous letter - and then (STUPIDLY) pressed SAVE not SAVE AS. So I overtyped.

I did not do a back up after saving yesterday.

Track changes doesn't seem to give me anything.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

    HELP!!

You did not say how you sent this letter. Was it by email? If so, look in your sent mail folder. If you sent by snailmail - as in an envelope and tossed it in post, then you may be out of luck.

For Word documents, depending on how your Save options are setup in Word, you may have a .bak file that is a copy of the last version of the document. So you can try searching for your documentname.bak, pull it into Word, then do a save as.

If not there, then again out of luck. To keep it from happening again, enable the Save backup option in Word.

Also, some printers keep a copy of the latest document in their buffers so you can just press a button on the printer to print the last print job. But if you turned off the printer too, that may be lost.

Thanks for this. Sadly, no I sent it by snailmail - the recipient didn't give an email address. So in Word, not email. And no back up. But thanks for advice.
