I need halp to reinstall Windows XP

Hi, i have a Windows XP Home Edition Dell Dimension 3000. I have been having problem a long time. Its been acting really slow and i thought that it was a virus but then i ran the antivirus and it doesn't seem to detect anything. Sometime it freezes. I also ran the system restore but it always fails. I had created Recovery CDs for it but when i try to use them at the end it say that its mising a file from the recovery CD.

How can i install windows XP again?

Have you ever opened the computer and cleaned it out?

Issues such as you describe are often heat issues.

Whether or not the motherboard is compromised is an issue.

One test of this is try to run a Linux Live CD.

Can you still enter into your old XP?

    It is an error log.

If you have problems they most likely throw errors.

The missing file on reinstall can often be a hardware problem as well as it could be a bad CD. That was the issue of running a Linux Live CD to test this out.

However since you can still access XP I suggest checking out your Event Viewer.

If it boils down to just a bad Recovery CD you can order one from Dell for usually just a shipping fee.
