I set a virus scan to run over night, we had some kind of trojan. The computer shot down and will not restart. I tried safe mode and get the same error code. I was thinking of trying to boot from a windows disk.Also tried to start with last known config.

This a laptop with windows XP home with s/p 3. Pentium 4 with 1g ram

What virus scan did you run that may have caused this problem?

Can you do a system restore at all?

• System Restore

If you can, take your system back to before this problem began.

Then I would suggest you read this link and follow through by posting a HJT log for the experts to analyse to clear your system of any Malware it may have.
