    My screen went blank

    Gateway 500s
    2.4GHz P4
    1GB 400 MHz DDR

I bought an ATI 7500 from a buddy, and put it in my computer. I powered it on and it read the card. As the drivers were installing, the power went out in my neighborhood.
Later I powered it up again and it asked me if I wanted to boot to safe mode. Then it seemed like it was loading, with a series of dots. I let it sit like this for well over a half an hour with no change, so I powered the computer down. When I tried to boot up again, the screen was just black.
I pulled the video card out and attached the monitor cable to my onboard graphics, after pulling out the battery and waiting a couple minutes. When I booted again, I can see it POST, but then blank screen. Now whenever I turn the computer on, it is just black screen, not even the POST screen.

What is going on? Could I have blown a graphics pipeline?
