Internet sropping out
I Have a desktop that i am running windows xp and it keeps dropping the internet connection. I can go to network connections and right click on connection and click repair and it comes back up. went to command prompt and typed ipconfig/flushdns, then ipconfig/release, and last ipconfig/renew. that seemed to work but when i turned on the computer this morning it dropped out again, so i went to network connections and clicked repair again and it seems to be working now but why does it keep happening?

Have you checked in- My Computer
- Properties
- Hardware
- Device Manager
- Network Adapters
Are there any red or orange warnings showing there?
Some extra tips to try:- If you are getting dropped connections, it could be related to interference in some way. Do you have 2.4GHz cordless phones? Baby monitors? Electric cords near antenna? If so, you may want to unplug/move them to see if problem persists. Also, make sure router antenna is at least 6 inches away from any wall.
- Make sure you have the latest firmware. Bugs can be fixed with subsequent releases and there may be a software fix to this issue.
- If all else fails, try using the router in another location (like a family member's home) to see if the problem persists. If so, it may be time to upgrade your router/adapters since your router maybe quite old.
Let us know when you post back some details of your system, router, age of system. The more information you can provide, the better the assistance received.

Thank you for the reply. I actually changed the network card and it fixed the problem.
