You need to go into the BIOS and make sure that on board sound is enabled. Check your user's manual.

it is enabled i've double checked it...and also read the user's manual 15 times now, cant find any thing wrong .... any other advice please ? if my info is insufficient let me know...

Did you reinstall windows after you got this system or did you just stick the drive from another computer in it? It is best to reinstall windows onto another system. If you are using it on a hard drive that came from a manufacturer such as dell then it might be designed only to recognize dell's hardware. If all you have is a disk from a manufacturer and this isn't a computer from that manufacturer then you will have to obtain your own disk and license because a manufacturer's disk con only be used on their computers. If you need to obtain a new OS Newegg sells discounted OEM licenses for windows that are technically for system builders, but they sell them anyway. You could also go with linux for free. If you did actually install this on that computer and it isn't a copy from a specific manufacturer then the only thing else I know to suggest is to contact the manufacturer. You could also consider buying a sound card but if something is wrong with the on board sound (and there might) since it is new I would use the warranty.

Welcome to D-A-L.
Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition (CLEAN FreeWare) on this machine. Once it's finished loading and running, look under;
MOTHERBOARD
Post what is listed for your Motherboard (make/model) and the Motherboard Chipset description.
Multimedia, or, under Multimedia, PCI / PnP Audio. This will tell you what sound devices you have available on your system.
Post that information exactly as presented by the program.
