Deleted My Sound?!
I Tried To Get My Computer To Run A Bit Faster My Add/Removing Programs I rarely Used.
Now I Have No Sound. Like Not Even The Sound Control In The Bottom Right Toolbar.
WMP :Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.
Anything with a yellow Exclamation mark in sound properties says:
location: Unknown
Device Status: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. the driver
may be corrupted or missing (code 39)
I read over just about all the forums I could find and tried everything they said worked for them. I've Updated all my drivers, Uninstalled and Re-Installed everything with a yellow Exclamation mark in my "add Hardware".
The only one that has trouble re-installing is "media control devices"
Plug and play is enabled.
I've restarted and still no audio devices show up either in WMP or "control panel/sound n audio devices"
I've also enabled "Audio Codecs" from the windows boot up menu. (tried out of desperation, Dont know if that was bad)
I've tried really hard and have run out of option before coming here. Can I get a Little Help?

Have you tried doing a System Restore to before you deleted things? If it works, that would be the quickest way to resolve this.
Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.
Chose a date before you started your cleanup effort.
-
I changed the OS from windows vista to XP...i didn't have restore enabled until this happened.
-
HP offers no XP support or drivers for that model.
Select your operating system HP Pavilion a6130n Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
Do you still have the Vista DVD to reinstall Vista?
If you received no DVD there should be a Recovery Partition in order to reinstall the factory Vista.
-
I know, I tried that site. If I did get a Vista Dvd, I don't have it now. Is reinstalling vista the only way, and if so how can i go about this?
-
Did your audio ever run under XP?
As noted HP offers no XP support or drivers for XP on this particular model.
There should be a hotkey @ F11 on boot to reload Vista as seen here:
Performing an HP System Recovery in Windows Vista HP Pavilion a6130n Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
-
yes, it used to run under xp.
-
-
it looks as if it un packs everything, and right before installing it says i don't meet the minimum req's....I assume becuase i don't have vista.
if this helps, in the corner of my screen is says :
Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.090206-1239 (service pack 2)

Try this direct from RealTec.
Say yes on the first screen to get the download page then choose a download on the right side for XP.
