Hi, when i try to connect to iexplorer it opens for e few seconds then closes, a message appears for a second asking to return to home page, click but still just shuts down, my internet connection is ok and can still get emails, also when i try to run a scan i get a message, error. starting on demand scanner, could you please advise how to clear this problem, regards.

give some more information about your system

which version of IE are you using and whats your operating system?

Also, please try the following:
- Control Panel
- Internet Options
- General tab:
- Delete Cookies -> OK
- Delete Files.. -> Delete All Offline Content -> OK
- Clear History -> OK
- Programs tab:
- Reset Web Settings -> Remove tick from 'Also reset my homepage' -> OK - OK
- Advanced tab:
- Restore defaults -> Apply -> OK
Try launching Internet Explorer

If that doesn't work, try going to the program directory:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\
and try launching iexplore.exe to see if that works

Also, do you use other browsers i.e Firefox/Opera? If yes, are you having any browsing problems with them?

thanks for reply, tried those and no success, i,am on dell dimension 5150, using IE8, the page opens for a second then shuts down, a window appears with it saying failed to shut down properly last time and do i want to go to home page, click this and shuts straight down, tried to get Mcafee to scan but system error shows, on demand. any suggestions????

What browser are you using now?

It wouldn't hurt to do a on-line scan at Eset

Because you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer.
You will need to agree to the download of ESET Smart Installer.
An application which installs and launches ESET Online Scanner in a separate window.

Do a full scan (it will take some time to do this) just to make sure you have
no nasties that's causing this problem.

If your using another PC to post.
Download either Firefox or Opera onto USB flash drive and install it on your PC from there.

Hi, guys ive got the same problem ie opens for about 1sec , Just flashs open and then shuts down again and firefox goes to open but says that there is a problem with it and needs to close and ask if i want to send a report to mircosoft , But i cant look to see what microsoft are saying the problem is ??,

Do any of you guys have any ideas,
Im using ie7 & firefox windows xp pro, and my other pc is working great - thats how ive managed to post on here !!!,
Ive tryed running the ie.exe in program files,etc and formated it twice and still no joy, Im ok at fixing pc computers and making them, So i have a basic No-how to fix them,etc.

Just stuck on this problem and cant seem to fix even with a format !!!!!!!!!,
