    Yes the machine is working quicker, however downloading did start and was going well to start with but then it said something like the server was interrupted and download could not complete, flashed up too quick for me to read it properly. Did not try again as I don't know what that actually means. The anti-virus is not updating either but is working when on the internet, limited use obviously.
    Really appreciate this as she is studying and does not have much spare cash and as I know a little more than she does thought I would try you as I know how well it works and how much patience you all seem to have with some of us "dummies". I have now learned myself how to zip files and download to disk properly instead of just the shortcut!!

    A little ask, will understand if i have to put it in a new thread, when you uninstall something we all just click next and don't realise that sometimes some files are needed for other programmes. I have a blue screen come up on mine and think it may be this and would like to try and fix it before i take it to someone to see if it is a problem with a piece of hardware. I run vista ultimate. Thank you Katz.

    From your # 1 post;

    "All went well until i tried to download the anti virus, (paid)."

    AND

    "The anti-virus is not updating either but is working when on the internet, limited use obviously."

    May I suggest Avast!. Full service AV, (free for home use).

    I'll be back......

    "however downloading did start and was going well to start with but then it said something like the server was interrupted and download could not complete, flashed up too quick for me to read it properly. "

    What is the above in reference to? AV, application(s), etc? (Sorry if I missed something here........)

    "A little ask, will understand if i have to put it in a new thread, ..... I run vista ultimate."

    Question for Vista should be posted in the Vista forum. It's a different "animal".

    (My new PC came with Vista pre-installed, and when I mounted my older XP data hard drives in the machine, it deleted any programs which it perceived to be a "threat". Not cool in my opinion. I blew away Vista any loaded my XP OS.)

    I have a paid subscription for bullguard anti- virus for three machines. The a-v i loaded on with a disk i made from downloading from my machine. It has installed and works when going onto the net but it wont update which i see as a downloading problem still. Sorry to confuse you.

    Have you tried their On-Line support;
