Re: Computer freezes and doesn't boot properly

I've been trying the option: "clean install from the Dell CD"

The computer did a repartitioning (I had the computer install the system files on the D drive)

And then did a restart (boot) to begin installing Windows. But I tried twice, and each time the computer gets stuck during the "Installing Windows" procedure.

I receive all the adverts about XP in the right side, and I am told the installation will take 35 minutes. But in the middle of the process, the computer gets stuck and doesn't proceed. I don't receive any error messages.

    Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if it was stuck or not.

It seems the computer just wanted a little input with these big screens about regional information. I'm not sure if I had a cursor or not.

But anyhow, the installation has moved on past where it was before. Will keep you posted!

OK but why the D drive?

Are you trying to preserve C?

Are you running multiple operating systems?

HP probably put a recovery partition on the original computer which normally would have been D.
