I inadvertently downloaded DirectX 10 not realising this was for Vista - I am running XP Home Edition. Can anyone tell me in laymans terms how I can uninstall it so I run only DirectX 9

I would be surprised if it installed as XP cannot run it.

What is your listed version found at:

start Run... dxdiag

I ran dxdiag as suggested and it shows version 9 so I think the version 10 which shows when I run 'search' must be wrong. What highlighted it was I do a lot of gaming on my pc and cant run a particular game and after running a 'fixit' check on my computer the gaming site said that version 10 had been hacked or altered by a third party so I presumed it was me when I downloaded it. Still a mystery but thanks for you help. Much appreciated.
