You need to go to BIOS, and see, if you can set an external device as booting device.

How old is the computer? Is it still under warranty? If so you should be able to RMA it to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. If not you should be able to replace the internal drive. Another option is to see if a BIOS upgrade would allow you to boot from an external device. What is the make/model of the computer?

I think, you need to buy internal CD drive replacement.
What OS is installed on the laptop right now?

    Hi shuaib_kashish...

I also tried a few weeks ago to install WinXP SP2 on a Dell Mini 9 Netbook using an External CD\DVD drive as the unit did not come with an Internal CD\DVD-ROM drive. I ran into issues as the "Boot to USB" was not available even though I enabled it in the BIOS. While searching for different methods to install WinXP without a CD\DVD Drive I came upon a page on how to install WinXP SP2 using a USB Memory Stick. Using the method outlined in the link below I installed XP onto the Netbook using a 1.0GB USB Memory stick...worked great...no install issues what so ever. The instructions are perfect...
