Opening a document
I have converted a PDF document into Word format, but it is a very large document (1208 pages). When I try to open it through word it tells me there is not enough disk space to open this file. It is currently 239 MB. Is there any way to get this open?
Thanks,
Chris

Welcome Chris,
While I can not be of any help immediately I will try my Google skills.
Meanwhile we do have some more Office savvy members who will hopefully pick up on your thread.

Hi sflcamacho...Welcome to the THF forum...
What program are you using to convert the PDF file to Word? How large is the original PDF file? How many pages are in the PDF file.
The reason I'm asking for the size of the PDf is that you said the Word file result was 239MB with 1208 pages. I actually just did a conversion for one of my users at work as everytime she tried to convert using Adobe PDF Writer it froze on her. I used a program called "Nuance PDF Professional 5" to convert to Word. The PDF file was 30 pages at 386KB and the resulting Word doc is also 30 pages at 304KB. If your PDF file is much smaller that the converted Word doc then it sounds to me that it did not convert properly and Word thinks that the converted file is corrupted. Word gives this answer that there is not enough memory or enough disk space when it considers the doc file to be corrupted.
"Nuance PDF Professional 5" is a great program and it does a great job in converting PDF to Word. Unfortunately the program is not free but it is much cheaper than Adobe...
- Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard - $299.00 US
- Nuance PDF Pro 5 - $99.00 US - http://www.nuance.com/pdfconverter/professional/
There is a cheaper program that just does PDF to Word Conversions - $29.95 - http://www.123fileconvert.com/?gclid...FR7yDAodFGShGQ
There are some free online PDF to Word Converter sites...

Thanks for the heads up on this. This document was originally 1208 pages and translated into 1208 pages, so the file is accurate. The PDF converter I used was "smart pdf converter" and it translates into word or excel. I would rather not buy another one if possible, this one seems to do what it was designed to do, but now I can't open the document b/c my computer is telling me there isn't enought "disk space" although it is on the hard drive.

Hi...It sounds like you have the Pro version of Smart PDF Converter so there should be no page restriction like the Trial version has (only 3 pages). As I mentioned in my other post I still think that it's a file corruption as that is the error that Word does give when trying to open or save a file that got corrupted.
Since this is the Pro version that you are running I recommend that you contact them and see if they have any ideas...
