First off I'd suggest a system restore to a point prior to your problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

If you cannot boot into XP in order to do this try Safe Mode then take the system restore option presented to you there:

    Safe Mode

Can you get into Safe Mode?
