Firewire Card Issue

Firewire Card Issue
If anyone can offer a thought on the following, I'd be most appreciative.
I am running XP Pro on a Dell Optiplex 330. Some months back, I installed a Firewire card to allow downloading from my Canon ZR65 digicam, and it worked fine several months ago when I last used it.
However, now when I connect the camera to the PC, XP is not recognizing the camera.
Here are the pertinent details which may provide a clue to what I guess must be a malfunctioning firewire card, though I hoped someone would let me know if there is other troubleshooting I should pursue first:
1. Under device manager, I see the card, listed as OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. There are no identified device conflicts, and the device is listed as working normally.
2. I uninstalled the device, rebooted, XP went through the dialog showing recognition of new hardware and then stated ready for use, but it still does not recognize the camera
3. I connected the camera to an older XP Home PC, and it was recognized...so, obviously no issues with the camera or the firewire cable
So, is there anything else I should try before buying a new fireware card and trying that?
Thanks so much if anyone has any suggestions.

Have you checked all your Plug & Play settings?
Try restarting the computer with the camera plugged in.

First off, thanks for trying to help me figure this out.
Second, yes, I had tried a reboot with the camera on, but still not recognized.
Not sure how to check plug and play settings...can you please aim me in a direction as to the specific steps?
Thanks much.

The first two are easy to check: start > Run... services.msc
Scroll down to Plug and Play: this should be started and set to automatic
Then go down to Universal Plug and Play Device Host: set to manual
