    vgaSave after re-installing XP sp2

I am trying to re-install XP on my computer which worked OK but was very slow. When installing sp1 everything is fine, but from Sp2 on the video goes to Safety Mode style - the driver is given as vgaSave and cannot be adjusted. I did not have this problem before - even with SP3.
Ant tips or help would be much appreciated.

You probably just need the proper driver for your graphics device.

    What is your graphics device?

The manufacturer will have the driver you need.

The only driver I can find is the default vgaSave. I have a 5 year old Celeron machine and I believe the video is onboard.
What I have now found whilst looking for details of the video card is that under Installed Hardware, 3 items are not properly installed - Videocontroller, Multimdeia controller and PC! Simple Comunications Controller.
I have reinstalled XP again but still with the same results.
Any further help is much appreciated.

Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, click on the Report Wizard in the Menu Bar. Save all hardware related pages (the default) to a TEXT file. (It will save it to C:\Program Files\Lavalys\EVEREST Home Edition\Reports by default, unless you redirect it.)

Compress (zip) the Everest Report text file and attach that zipped text document to your next posting. (When posting, click on Advanced, and just below the posting box you'll see "Additional Options", and within that, "Attach Files". Click on "Manage Attachments" and follow the prompts. Browse to the file and choose UPLOAD.)

One of us (whoever gets back here first) will point you in the right direction.
