I installed a ddr 2 ram into a ddr slot without knowing... I got nothing on the monitor... then I realized it and removed the ram... now it beeps every 10 seconds or so... did I permantly damage it... any ideas would be appreciated... Thanks Jesse

What is the make (manufacturer) of the motherboard, and what is the exact model number?

its a compaq presario sr1330nx amd athlon 400MHz... It only has 512 ram...

If the computer does not start, a beep code sounds, or the new memory amount does not display in the BIOS, use the next section to troubleshoot the problem.

What to do if problems occur after installing memory

Try the following items if the computer cannot start or has memory errors (including beeps) after the computer starts:

1. Reseat the new memory module by repeating Step 3 through Step 7 of this document.
   
2. Remove the new memory module and clean the groove in the socket that the module sits in. Use a can of compressed air with a straw-type extender and safety glasses.
   
3. Check other cables connections inside the computer. Reseat any cables that were disconnected or partially unseated.
   
4. Remove the new memory module and try starting the computer again. If the computer starts, make sure you purchased the right type and compatible size of memory (see Step 1 and Step 2 ). You can remove and reference from the memory module that originally came installed in the computer.
