Missing text on buttons/dialogue boxes - help!
Hi
I have just received my Acer Aspire 1690 Laptop back from Acer after repairs (was freezing all the time - they replaced optical drive, hard drive and mainboard).
I am re-installing all my software but every now and then when a dialogue bx appears with a choice of buttons to click on there is no text so I don't know what buttons do what.
It doesn't happen every time but seems to happen when the dialogue boxes and buttons are not the standard windows type but ones made by the software (ie. they may be bigger than usual) - if that makes sense?!
Here's some examples:

Anyone come across this problem before? Anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks for any help in advance.

this is very strange and as it has only happened since getting your laptop back from the repair centre it will more than likely be something they have changed. before i clicked into your post i was really in hope from your subject description that you would include screenshots, and thank god you did.
right then, i would say this is possibly going to be a Windows Appearance that needs to be changed. on the desktop right click and select properties > then on the tabs across the top click on Appearance, then Advanced button (if you cannot see it then its the 2nd one down on the right).
Click on every single option for Buttons, these will be named 3d objects along with other names, and just ensure that the font colour is different to the background colour, otherwise this is why they are not showing the text as its set as the sasme colour.
Hope this helps, let me know if it works or if it doesnt.

Thanks for your reply and info - appreciated. I should have posted back that I sorted it out in the end. I did a re-install and that fixed it. Thanks again.

yeah sometimes easier to just reinstall and do a repair of the windows installation. congrats with getting resolved in the end.
