    Thumbs down Not detected?

    Hey guys.

First off I am new to these forums so I am hoping im posting this in the right are.

Anyway recently I have got a jack that goes on the end of your guitar lead so it goes into the back of my computer so I can record what I am playing.

I plugged it into the microphone and the other 2 ports it will fit into.

A message comes up like this

I never got any software at all, i was told it will just automatically be detected into "audacity" which is what I am using

Anyway this is what I am using to plug it in, the lead end goes into this.

Audacity only detected my microphone but when I unplugged that there was nothing. Going by the message I get when i log on, windows knows its there.

Can you please help me make this work. I dont know much about it.

    Thanks

Try looking at your MIDI input controls and settings. May help.

    Welcome to techhelpforum.

I take it that the instrument is an electric guitar.

That adapter is a 1/4" mono male to a 1/8" mono male, which will do the job of getting the guitar "signal" to the computer sound device.

However, without a pre-amp, you won't have much of a signal.

If you have an electric guitar, do you also have a guitar amp?

If so, does the guitar amp have a "Line-Out" jack? (This provides a "pre-amped" signal.)

From there, you should be going to a "Line-In" jack on your sound device. The Microphone jack should not be used. Does your (computer) sound device have a "Line-In" jack?

Post back with your results/answers and any further questions.
