my computer wont boot up, it turns on but when windows loadup windows beggings it just stays there. i want to be able to retreve my pictures before i reformat. can anyone help? is there a way to do that?

Take the hard drive out of the computer that won't boot and install it as a slave drive in a working system and you will be able to copy your photos off of the drive. You could also get an external USB drive case and put the drive in that and then connect it to another computer as an external drive.

After you get your files you can then put the drive back in the original computer and perform a clean install.

if you do not have a spare computer to do the above, you could always insert your original Windows CD and see if you can boot from CD to get back into Windows by doing a repair and not a format. Once you have backed up your pictures to an external device, then go ahead with the format where required.
