Blue Screen Memory Dump leads to file loss
Hello all...
Within the past few days, my computer began to throw fits and go to the blue screen of death...indicating a memory dump. It got to the point where I could not boot up the computer, even in safe mode. After about a day of this, my computer suddenly displayed a message on the BIOS indicating a loss in memory. It said press F1 to continue, which I did. The computer booted up normally as if nothing had happened. I went to My Computer to check on this memory issue. It was now indicating only 512mb of RAM instead of the 1GB that was installed. It appears as though half of my RAM took a dump.
I didn't have time to deal with the problem at the moment. Today, however, I was looking through some of my files on my second hard drive, I noticed almost half were missing. Half of my music was gone, the majority of the pictures in My Pictures were missing, along with numerous other files. I am at a loss for words and have no idea where to begin. Considering I had a great deal of music, and hundreds of personal photos I took all over the world on my computer, I'm slightly annoyed at this loss.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on, or know what the best course of action may be? Would there be any chance of recovering all of these files?
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Brian
