i have just tryed to get my up dates for windows xp home addition it wont let me get them it says its downloading them but at the end it says it cant do them

i even gone into services and it is enabled

What web browser are you using? Do you receive any error message/s?? Is the date and time correct on your system? Are you logged on as Administrator? Are there any clues in the Event Viewer located thus. Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer and double-click Application/System in the left hand pane.

Regarding Windows Services, have you ensured that Automatic Updates and Background Intelligent Transfer Service have been Started and set to Automatic?

Depending on what web browser you are using, namely IE, there is also another work around that involves re-registering various dll files. However, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
