Background trouble!
I have Windows XP Home. I can change my background; however, I can not tile or center. The only option that functions is stretch. If I choose tile or center with a color fill I get a white desktop. Any help would be appreciated. I have run spyware (several) and norton virus. There were a couple of trojans but those have been cleaned from system. Thank you!

Welcome to techhelpforum.
Do you have Active Desktop enabled?

Box is unchecked on Web tab. There are no references to Wallpaper in the HKCU or HKLM......policies/system, etc.... I'm at my wit's end trying to figure this one out. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate them. Tks.!

I have XP Home (Retail, w/SP2 embedded, self installed).
All of my wallpaper settings work. In my registry I have found the WallpaperStyle key (String Value) in the following eight locations;
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\General]
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Control Panel\Desktop]
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Control Panel\Desktop]
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Control Panel\Desktop]
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2025429265-484763869-1060284298-1003\Control Panel\Desktop]
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2025429265-484763869-1060284298-1003\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\General]
You might try adding the WallpaperStyle key into the above locations (one at a time, restart recommended). They are presented in the order found in the registry ("top" to "bottom").
WallpaperStyle key values:
0 - Centered (Default)
1 - Tiled
2 - Stretched
