Exclamation Desktop Image will not Display

My computer was working just fine last night. But this morning when I turned it on, I found that I couldn't see my background image, which i find quite frustrating. Naturally, I went to Dispay Properties and tried to change the image there. (none of the options are greyed-out). I clicked browse and applied the same image, but I still had a back background. I tried again, this time using a different image, only to come to the same result.

The strange thing is that I can see the image in the display preview in Display Properties, but not on the actual desktop. Also, I can see my desktop image whenever I'm not on the desktop. for example, if I click Ctrl+Alt+Delete I can see my background, as well as when I first log in. But when the Desktop loads, my background dissappears and becomes black, (or whatever color that I select on the drop-down menu under "Browse" and "Position").

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!! I really don't want to live with a plain background... heheh

fyi, i have tried a virus scan and i have tried going to a previous system restore point, but when i reboot after the system restore, it says that it was unable to run the restore point.

    SOLVED!

I fixed it! for anyone having similar problems, what I did was I went to the Display Properties window and changed my Theme from "Modified" to Windows XP. The background image displayed! Then I went to the Desktop tab and changed it to the image I wanted. Tada! I'm happy now
